TO BE SUCCESSFUL in boat building, the more-profitable companies embrace the concept of incremental change. This means they build a 55 as an improvement on the 53 and design it in such a way as to get the owner of a 50 to upgrade and stay within the brand family.
Most well-known production builders follow the same formula, each looking after their database of owners while holding their hands as they upsize through the range. The hope is the owner remains loyal to the brand.
