The new 15.4-metre submersible can carry up to 24 passengers
Triton Submarines recently announced the launch of the Triton DeepView 24, a 15.4-metre submersible that can take up to 24 passengers to depths of up to 100 metres (328 feet). The DeepView 24 was commissioned by Vinpearl for its guests at Hon Tre Island in Nha Trang, Vietnam and is due to start operations in December 2020. Hon Tre Island, along Vietnam’s southern coast, is home to a number of resorts by Vinpearl, and diving in the area is focused on nearby coral reefs.
The DeepView 24, built at Triton’s facility in Barcelona, Spain, features large panoramic, “optically perfect” windows for an immersive guest experience in the air-conditioned interior. For passenger comfort, the DeepView 24 is designed to sit steady on the water and it has a large hatch, allowing for easy entrance and exit, even for passengers that have limited mobility.
The new submersible runs nearly silent and emits no carbon or effluent, and was developed to meet the demand of tourists for underwater experiences, thanks in part to such TV series as Blue Planet.
“A DeepView experience is terrific for encouraging guests to promote environmental stewardship after directly experiencing the seafloor environment,” says Bruce Jones, co-founder and CEO of Triton Submarines.
Following sea trials in Barcelona in March 2020, the Triton DeepView 24 is certified to International Classification Standards by DNV-GL.
