The Macau Yacht Show (Oct 24-27) aims to develop Macau into the next yachting destination in the Greater Bay Area

The 9th Macau Yacht Show officially opened at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf on October 24, 2019.

9th Macau Yacht Show Opens 

The grand opening ceremony was attended by many important figures in yachting-, tourism- and commerce-related industries.

The Macau Yacht Show will exhibit boats from luxury brands like MCY, Jeanneau, Absolute, Azimut and Sunseeker, which will bring its 140ft superyacht. Chinese yacht manufacturer Jiepeng will also display the 110ft superyacht in Macau for the first time. Local exhibitors such as Macau Huihang, a new yacht public parking provider, landg and Xiangjiang No. 1 will also take boats to the yacht show.

In 2019, the domestic yacht market slowed compared with the previous years. According to Hong Kong exhibitors, “the volume of yacht transactions decreased compared to last year due to the impact of economic conditions. The exhibitors in Macau hope to expand new customers. Macau will be the next international city with the most potential to be a yacht tourism destination in the Greater Bay Area.”

Yacht Summit Forum

The 2019 Asia Pacific Yacht Industry Summit (Macao) forum, held in conjunction with the Macau yacht show, will be held at 2:30pm on October 25. Representatives of the yachting industry from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau and Asia Pacific; clubs and associations; yacht manufacturers and brands will gather to discuss the developing trends of the yachting industry. The Asia Pacific Superyacht Association, Hong Kong Sailing Association, Macao Yacht Association, Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Great Bay Yacht Industry Federation and Singapore Yacht Industry Association will all be present.

The forum and discussions will focus on topics like the sailing economy, the Greater Bay Area and marine economic development. The Asia Pacific Yacht Industry Summit Forum will provide an opportunity for the exchange of industry experience and the collision of views. Industry leaders will explore ideas for the development of Macau’s yacht industry in the future.

Exciting events

On the water, there will be surfing activities available, and the “Xiangjiang-1” ancient sailboat will let several lucky spectators come onboard to enjoy the sunset from 4:00-6:00pm every day.

On October 26-27, six youth teams from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan will compete for the trophy in the OP teenagers’ sailing competition. Players from both sides of the Taiwan Strait will come together to participate in the competition and engage in cultural exchange.

Free travel in Hainan, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau

This yacht exhibition will actively promote free travel in Hainan, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. Exhibitors and guests from Hainan, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Jiangmen, Shenzhen and more will use the yacht exhibition as a platform to achieve exchanges and cooperation.

At the Asia-Pacific Yacht Industry Summit (Macau) Forum on the afternoon of October 25th, a representative of the Sanya Yacht Sailing Industry Association will sign a cooperation agreement for “Hannan and Macau yacht free travel” with the representative of the Macau Yacht Enterprise. With new development opportunities, both sides hope to strengthen economic, cultural, and tourism cooperation and integration between Hainan and Macau. Multi-linkages to promote yachts freely will not only attract more visitors to Macau, but will also help Macau become a sailing destination for yachts.

After nine years, the Macau Yacht Show has gradually become an important platform for the yacht industry in the Asia-Pacific region, becoming an increasingly important industry influence and attracting more attention from the yacht industry and the marine economy.
