When X-Yachts decided to expand its model lines beyond racing, many shook their heads - now they are nodding in appreciation about the Xc45.
WHEN THE NAME X-YACHTS comes up in a conversation between sailors, it’s usually when talking about regatta sailing. Since 1979, this Danish yard has become very well known for its racing yachts and their sailing performance. When the yard launched its first cruising yacht in 2008, the sailing world was very surprised and many wondered if this was the right tactical decision.
Seven years later, it clearly proved to be the right move. Almost 300 cruising yachts have been produced, of which more than 90 are Xc 45 sailboats, and several models have been nominated European Yacht of the Year – with the Xc 45 and smaller sister Xc 38 winning this prestigious title. About a year ago, X-Yachts CEO and designer Niels Jeppesen decided it was the right moment to gather all the experience of their owners to design an improved version of this very successful cruising line.
