Enrolled students can learn how to sail dinghies, keelboats, small powerboats and RIBs
Simpson Marine has confirmed the ‘Simpson Marine Sailing Academy’ is officially launching at the upcoming Thailand Yacht Show.
This year’s Thailand Yacht Show will take place at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club, Pattaya from 9-12 June. Simpson, which has a fleet on display at the show, says its new sailing academy at Ocean Marina will “introduce the next generation to the joys of open-water adventure.” Those enrolled will follow the globally-recognised International Yacht and Maritime Training (IYT) curriculum.
Courses available at the Simpson Marine Sailing Academy include:
Dinghy Sailing Programme:
Bronze Level – Start Sailing
Silver Level – Safe Sailing
Gold Level – Independent Sailing
Platinum Level – Perfected Sailing
Small Powerboat and RIB Master (<15m length)
(Also recognised by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, United Kingdom, as a commercial certificate of competency.)
Simpson Sailing Academy will also offer its own in-house certificates of attendance for:
Introduction to Dinghy Sailing
Introduction to Keel Boats
There is a comprehensive fleet of yachts available for coaching. Simpson’s current fleet includes five Beneteau First 14s, two Beneteau First 18s, one Beneteau First 24, one Beneteau First 27, one RIB AB F17.
In addition, private tuition on attendee’s own vessels – sail, monohull, catamaran and power yachts – is available. Simpson says this is a great option for owners wanting to take on these courses in the comfort of their own yacht at a time convenient to them.
The Simpson Marine Sailing Academy team says it will be participating in the Thailand Yacht Show to showcase the Sailing Academy’s curriculum and courses. Three of the Sailing Academy’s yachts – the Beneteau First 14, 18 and 27 – will be available for sea trials daily for first-hand sailing experience under the supervision of certified instructors. On-site registration and enrollment to the Simpson Sailing Academy will be available.
Simpson Marine is introducing the Thailand premieres of the Fairline Squadron 68 and Aquila 28 Molokai at this year’s Thailand Yacht Show. Other yachts on display include the Beneteau Oceanis 46.1, Lagoon 46 and Fairline F//Line 33.
