Hong Kong edition of the world's premier art show saw its partner Sanlorenzo hosting an exclusive event at the Collectors Lounge to meet Alixe Fu

At the recent Art Basel Hong Kong, held from March 29-31, 2019, Sanlorenzo presented a new installation designed by Art Director Piero Lissoni in homage to the artist Alixe Fu in collaboration with the Amanda Wei Gallery.

During the show, Sanlorenzo hosted a very special “Meet the Artist” cocktail event in the Collectors Lounge, inviting an exclusive group of guests to meet artist Alixe Fu and to gather a more in-depth understanding of the artwork.

A welcome speech was given by Massimo Perotti, chairman and CEO of Sanlorenzo, who said: “It’s a great pleasure for Sanlorenzo to be present at Art Basel Hong Kong for the first time and collaborating with Asian artists with the support of Amanda Wei Gallery. For years Sanlorenzo has broken boundaries in the world of art and design, finding various complementary ways to express the concept of Sanlorenzo: timeless beauty paired with top quality. And this is one of the many reasons why a Sanlorenzo yacht is different from others.”

“The ‘Made to Measure’ approach of Sanlorenzo has been well-recognised by more and more Asian buyers, who appreciate the unique design and high quality of Sanlorenzo yachts,” said Mike Simpson, founder of Simpson Marine. “We have brought many Sanlorenzo yachts to Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Taiwan so it is a great honour to present prestigious Asian artwork here at Art Basel, to show the best combination of Italian design and Asian aesthetics.”

Alixe Fu’s artwork is represented by Amanda Wei Gallery, which was founded by Amanda Wei in Hong Kong. As one of the growing number of Sanlorenzo owners in Asia, Amanda is also keen to bring the two worlds of art and superyachts together to present Asian artists in different way.

“Sanlorenzo yachts represent the top quality in the global yachting industry and we are glad to have more Asian artists being presented here,” says Wei. “We hope more and more talented young artists from China and Asia will be discovered.” In addition to Alixe Fu, Amanda Wei Gallery also represents various famous artists in Asia including Zhou Chunya and Tan Ping.
