The Race for Water Foundation, a pioneer in ocean conservation, marks its 13th year of ongoing commitment with the launch of its next Odyssey in the Mediterranean Sea aboard the MODX 70.

Renewing our commitments with a third Odyssey on board a new ambassador vessel, the MODX 70, the first zero carbon emission catamaran.

Created in 2010 by Marco Simeoni, a Swiss entrepreneur and sailor, the Race for Water Foundation is an organization dedicated to ocean conservation, known for its Global Odysseys aboard revolutionary ships in the service of the oceans. For more than 10 years, and two worldwide expeditions, the Foundation has studied the impact of plastic pollution on ecosystems and human health, while providing its community with relevant solutions to prevent plastic waste from reaching waterways.

Starting in 2024, the Race for Water Foundation will resume its operational actions, aboard the MODX 70, with a new Odyssey supporting multiple missions geared towards its new focused topic: oceans and climate change.

After two worldwide expeditions against plastic pollution, the foundation is setting sail again with new ambitions: to demonstrate the importance of a healthy ocean to fight climate change and to promote solutions to decarbonise maritime transport.

These new objectives are in line with the Foundation’s three flagship programmes, which include welcoming ocean and climate scientists and experts to study the impact of climate change on the ocean and the importance of marine biodiversity to combat it; to raise awareness on the importance of the ocean through the creation of educational content, events organisation and the international interventions of the Race for Water teams; and to promote and apply “Zero Carbon Emission” technological solutions used on board to contribute to the decarbonization of the maritime world.

The Race for Water Foundation is also renewing its historic partnership with Ocean Developpement shipyard, in collaboration with Aeroforce, builder of the MODX 70, the first zero-emission catamaran navigating with 100 per cent renewable energy. This revolutionary and exceptional vessel will become the Foundation’s itinerant ambassador, symbolizing Race for Water’s commitment to sustainable navigation, in harmony with the ocean.
