The 33m tri-deck features a new Hybrid Fast Displacement Hull and accommodation for up to 10 guests.

Princess Yachts has revealed the first exterior and interior CGIs of the Odyssey 108, a 33m superyacht that will form part of the yard’s new generation of yachts over 100ft.

The reveal also introduces a design collaboration between Princess and London-based superyacht design studio Harrison Eidsgaard, which is working with the Princess design team on the interior of the Odyssey 108. Harrison Eidsgaard’s experience in the large superyacht sector is being combined with Princess’s design and engineering teams as development of the yacht progresses towards production.

A scale model of the Odyssey 108 will be displayed on the Princess Yachts stand at the Monaco Yacht Show, giving visitors an opportunity to examine the exterior design.

Odyssey programme progresses

The latest developments come a year after Princess announced the Odyssey programme. The exterior design has now been released alongside the first interior concepts, while a physical scale model will be shown at Monaco. The engineering programme is also underway.

Will Green, CEO of Princess Yachts, says: “When we announced Odyssey, we set out our ambition to return Princess to the 30-metre-plus market and build on everything we have learned over more than 60 years of designing and building yachts in Plymouth.

“A year on, Odyssey is becoming very real. The design has progressed enormously, the engineering programme is well underway, and the successful completion of our first hull tank tests is another important milestone. The collaboration with Harrison Eidsgaard also brings an extraordinary depth of superyacht interior design experience to the programme.

“There is a tremendous amount of work still ahead of us but we are incredibly excited by what the teams are creating.”

Princess has also confirmed its collaboration with Harrison Eidsgaard on the yacht’s interior. Founded in 2005, the London-based studio works across yacht, aviation and residential design and has designed interiors for a number of large superyachts.

Princess is working directly with founding partners Ewa Eidsgaard and Ben Harrison on the Odyssey 108, combining the studio’s experience in large custom yachts with the yard’s in-house design, engineering and construction capabilities.

Ben Harrison, co-founder of Harrison Eidsgaard, says: “Princess is a brand we have long admired, so we are delighted to have the opportunity to work together on the interior of Odyssey. There is a real synergy between our respective approaches to design, a belief in creating something beautiful and distinctive but always with purpose, functionality and attention to detail at its heart.

“To have been selected to help create the interior of Princess’ first yacht over 100 feet for almost a decade is a real privilege. Odyssey represents an exciting new chapter for the British yard and the opportunity to combine our experience in the large superyacht world with Princess’ extraordinary depth of craftsmanship and engineering expertise is particularly exciting.”

Andy Lawrence, executive director of design and development at Princess Yachts, says: “Harrison Eidsgaard brings an exceptional depth of experience from the very highest levels of superyacht design but what has struck us throughout the process is how naturally our design philosophies align. Ewa, Ben and their team share our belief that great design is about much more than aesthetics, it is about how a yacht works, how it feels and how every detail contributes to the experience on board.

“Odyssey 108 is a hugely important development for us and having Harrison Eidsgaard working alongside our own design teams is helping us create something genuinely special.”

Hybrid hull for long-range cruising

The 33m Odyssey 108 has a tri-deck configuration and a stated gross tonnage of 277 GT. Princess describes the yacht as a passage-making model, with the design incorporating long-range cruising capability and seakeeping characteristics.

The yacht uses a new Hybrid Fast Displacement Hull developed with Princess’s naval architects, Olesinski. The hull is intended to provide the efficiency and range required for extended cruising while retaining the performance characteristics associated with the Princess range.

Hull development is underway, with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis being used during the design process. The hull has also completed its first programme of physical tank testing, allowing the CFD predictions to be compared with physical test results.

The Odyssey 108 has a stated range of more than 2,600 nautical miles at 9 knots. Three MAN V12 engine options will be available, with the highest-powered twin MAN V12X-2200 installation projected to provide a maximum speed of 19–21 knots.

An alternative installation uses twin Rolls-Royce MTU V12 2000 M96Z engines, each producing 2,222 HP.

Interior layout and accommodation

The tri-deck arrangement provides living areas across the yacht, with extensive glazing intended to increase natural light and maintain views of the surrounding sea.

The first interior concepts shown at Monaco indicate the design direction being developed by Princess and Harrison Eidsgaard. The layout incorporates larger social areas alongside spaces intended for more private use.

The standard accommodation comprises four cabins for eight guests. An optional five-cabin arrangement increases capacity to 10 guests, while Pullman berths can be specified for the port and starboard twin cabins.

Crew accommodation is arranged across three cabins for five crew as standard, with an optional configuration for up to seven.

The first Odyssey 108 is scheduled to enter the water in 2029, with its world premiere planned for 2030.
