The new marina is under construction in Bali, with 180 berths planned by 2026.
PT Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) have announced the official name of Indonesia’s first international full-service marina as Bali Gapura Marina.
The facility, located in Bali, is under construction and will provide 180 berths, including capacity for superyachts, by the third quarter of 2026. Groundbreaking took place on 22 May 2025.

The marina is intended to act as a catalyst for further marina development in Indonesia. “Through strong collaboration between government and the private sector, Bali Gapura Marina is set to become Indonesia’s first international full-service marina,” says Arif Suhartono, president director of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia.
“To further strengthen Indonesia’s maritime infrastructure while unlocking the vast potential of our tourism industry, Pelindo remains open to explore and develop other world-class marinas, within Indonesia archipelago. This reflects our long-term vision to elevate Indonesia’s standing as a premier maritime and tourism hub in the region.”
The name Bali Gapura Marina combines cultural meaning with practical function. Gapura, meaning “gateway” in Balinese, symbolises the marina as both an entry point and a cultural connection. “The name reflects how every yacht and boat is welcomed at Bali Gapura Marina, crossing from water to land as part of a cultural journey. It also reinforces Indonesia’s commitment to placing maritime journeys at the core of National Strategic Projects, uniting cultural heritage with forward-looking economic priorities,” says Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, minister of tourism of the Republic of Indonesia.
Dock B is the first area under construction, with eleven concrete pontoons providing 48 berths. This is the smallest of five planned docks. Pontoons for Docks A and C are still in production, while Dock D is being developed as a floating breakwater. The pilot commercial opening of Dock B is scheduled for the first week of December 2025, when boats will be able to access basic facilities such as electricity, water and provisioning services. A Welcome Station is being prepared to handle quarantine, immigration, customs and port (QICP) formalities.
Dock B is being equipped with pedestal electricity and water systems supplied by Plus Marine, the first installation of this type in Indonesia. The equipment provides integrated dockside utilities designed to ensure safety and efficiency. “Dock B’s completion is more than an operational milestone. It represents a new era for Indonesia,” says Ulf Backlund, president director of Marina Development Indonesia.
“The pilot opening paves the way for the next phases: complete technical service facilities by mid-2026, expansion to 180 berths including superyacht capacity by Q3 2026, and the development of a waterfront commercial and lifestyle hub by 2028.”
