The famed 105-metre Blohm+Voss superyacht Lady Moura, which was listed for sale at Camper & Nicholsons, has been sold in an in-house deal after just 554 days.
With a helicopter pad, 13 cabins, 65 crew, a 24-metre long dining table, gold-plated nameplate and an indoor pool, Lady Moura is often referred to as the world’s first megayacht.
She was delivered by German shipyard Blohm+Voss in 1990, and was registered as the ninth-largest private yacht in the world when built. (She is now ranked at 48th in the list.) Lady Moura reportedly cost US$200 million to build in the late 1980s. Her asking price was US$125 million.
Listed exclusively on the market with Camper & Nicholsons for 554 days, this sale represents the fastest known brokerage sale of a vessel over 100 metres in the last 10 years. She is also the largest yacht sale recorded by a brokerage house since 2019.
Sales brokers Arne Ploch and Andrew LeBuhn represented the seller, Saudi Arabian businessman Nasser Al-Rashid, while Fernando Nicholson represented the buyer, who has not been named.
“I am extremely pleased we achieved such a result and the timeframe in which we achieve it makes it even more exceptional. I would like to thank all the people involved, across our marketing, CRM, legal, brokerage and management departments as this was a truly joint effort that makes me so very proud to work for this company, with every single team member we have today,” said C&N CEO Paolo Casani.
“An iconic vessel that defines the world of gigayachting has been sold in-house and three very senior and experienced yacht brokers have been able to achieve one of the great successes in yachting in 2021, thanks to the dedication and organisation of all the departments of C&N, starting from the CEO down,” added broker Fernando Nicholson.’
Al-Rashid has, to date, been the only owner of Lady Moura, which underwent a seven-month refit at her original builders, Blohm + Voss, in 2017. She has a phenomenal range in excess of 8,000nm at a full cruising speed of 17knots, surpassing that of most modern superyachts.
One of the seven decks is dedicated to family living. Along with the opulent full beam owner’s suite on this deck, there are six cabins exclusively for use by family members, totalling 2,600sqm of private chambers.
Lady Moura’s incredible volume allows for other impressive amenities including a movie theatre/disco with DJ room, gym, owner’s study and medical suites for both owner/guests and crew. There are also two galleys aboard, as well as a bakery.
The recreational deck features an indoor pool, gym and spa with a sauna. The pool is covered by a retractable roof that allows usage in all weather conditions.
Earlier this month, Camper & Nicholsons announced the appointment of Gordon Yip Wang Hui, Owner of Victoria Marine Asia, as Senior Sales Broker in its Hong Kong office.
