Luke Habermann steps up to the role of membership and programmes manager at MIA.
The Marina Industries Association (MIA) has appointed Luke Habermann as membership and programmes manager.
Working across all areas of the business, the role supports the MIA’s expanding membership and member programmes across Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
A passionate sailor, Habermann’s marina career journey spans over 20 years and includes extensive operational marina management experience both in Australia and overseas, as well as management of wet and dry boat storage operations.
He brings a strong focus on customer service, safety and compliance, offering insights into members’ needs and how the MIA can continue to evolve to support them.
“Luke’s operational experience will not only give him a deep insight into our members’ support needs, but he will be a great contributor to the development of our training program,” says MIA CEO Suzanne Davies.
Aside from marinas, Habermann has skippered and maintained charter and tour vessels. Most recently, he was a boat harbour controller with Maritime Safety Queensland.
“I am very excited to join the MIA team and will have plenty of operational knowledge that will equip me to support members,” says Habermann. “Having worked in and around marinas for many years, I have seen the importance of many of the MIA’s programs and how they assist marina businesses in increasing their efficiency, remaining compliant, and growing stronger.
“I look forward to working with all members to help them get the most out of their membership and the support that MIA provides.”
Andrew Chapman, president of the MIA adds: “With a conference coming up in less than six months, this will be an exciting year for the MIA.
“We are a progressive organisation that is continually seeking ways to expand our support to members and their businesses in meaningful ways. Luke will spend much of his time out and about with members, learning about their businesses and supporting them. On behalf of all members, I welcome Luke to the MIA team”.
