The new marina and club on Hong Kong's Lantau Island is ready to receive guests
In late April, nearly eight months after the soft opening in September 2020 of its marina, the Lantau Yacht Club in Hong Kong finished renovations on the clubhouse buildings and other facilities. The Lantau Yacht Club offers the first set of new, dedicated superyacht berths that have been offered in Hong Kong in decades.
The first images released by the Club showcase the launch of the new clubhouse and marina office. The clubhouse, which has a navy-themed décor, has a view of the marina basin and offers private dining and bar service to members.
Members may host private event or gatherings at the Private Dining Room, Entertainment Room, the Lawn or the BBQ area. A spiral stairway connects the lounge on the ground floor with the Caffè Napoli and bar on the upper level.
The Lantau Yacht Club was completely rebuilt by Hong Kong Resort Company Limited into a superyacht-focused marina. Executive Chairman of HKRI Victor Cha, a shareholder of the developer and operator, has said that he wishes to turn Lantau into a regional hub for superyacht owners and visitors.
Lantau Island is home to Hong Kong International Airport, about a 30-minute drive from the refurbished marina. Nearby Tsing Yi island is home to Hong Kong United Dockyards Ltd., which handles superyacht maintenance and repairs. There are also several spots along the southside of Lantau Island which are destinations for yachts.
The new marina has begun to host new superyacht arrivals. The Hong Kong-owned Pershing 140, the flagship of the Pershing line, is now based at LYC, as is the new Custom Line Navetta 30, which recently arrived in Hong Kong. The Princess X95 Superfly, a ground-breaking yacht from the UK brand, is now berthed at the club as well.
There are over 10,000 registered pleasure yachts in Hong Kong in 2020, and according to a press release by Lantau Yacht Club, there are approximately 100 yachts in Hong Kong over 30 metres length overall.
The Lantau Yacht Club has 148 berths for yachts from 10 to 60 metres, with 38 berths for yachts between 30 and 60 metres. There is an alongside berth for megayachts up to 100 metres. Marina services include shore power, water, dockside phone and TV, black and bilge water pump out, bunkering and full marina security.
The service yard includes hardstand for boats up to 17 metres and dry stack storage for boats up to eight metres. There is also a storage area for 20 and 40-foot containers and a 45-tonne travelift. The marina office can provide concierge services and limousine transfers to the airport.
