A total of 55,000 people attended last year's event
Organisers of the Korea International Boat Show 2023 say that the 16th edition of the show has seen a bumper attendance of 68,000 people.
The event, held from 3-5 March 2023 at the Kintex convention complex in Seoul, took place at the same time as the Korea International Fishing Show. Reports in local media say that three leading angling boatbuilders sold around 30 boats: Star Marine, Sea Star Marine (Hwaseong), and Big Bear Marine (Anseong).
This year’s event featured an eco-friendly high-tech pavilion designed to showcase the future technology of marine leisure.
The annual show is organised by Kintex, Korea Water & Environmental-Industry Corporation, Marina and Marine Industries Association of Korea. The Korea International Boat Show 2023 included displays of equipment and services ranging from water sports through surfing, water skiing, and diving technologies, to charters, motorboats and luxury yachts.
Boat shows are enjoying a resurgence in Asia as covid restrictions are gradually dropped. The upcoming Singapore Yachting Festival is proving popular with potential exhibitors and the show is on track to be a full house when the show starts on April 27, according to show organiser Wade Pearce.
“We have 80% of the berths reserved with all newly delivered boats (10m-45m), and another 20-30 supply and service companies with booths on the water,” Pearce told Asia-Pacific Boating. He said that the show was likely to be full at least one month before the start of the exhibition.
