The Wider 32 is a versatile tender for superyachts and a fresh, innovative day cruiser...
I AM IN ANCONA TO VISIT the new Italian shipyard of Wider Yachts, where a 150-foot aluminium superyacht is also under construction and a 165ft is on the drawing boards. The Wider 32 was born as a tender for the larger ships that will be produced at the shipyard, but as Wider Founder, President and CEO Tilli Antonelli says during a conversation in the yard, “as we started to think about a modern tender for our ships, we immediately understood that the 32 can live also alone, as a family boat for day cruising.”
Wider was established in 2010 and in December 2012, the company announced a partnership with Singaporean entrepreneur Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, who spearheads the Genting Group, that gives founding partners Antonelli and Paolo Favilla a 50 percent stake and the other half is controlled by Lim through EXA Ltd. The first model launched was the Wider 42, which features extendable side platforms to increase the useable space on board.
