Designers and builders have put together the 48-metre Royal Huisman Wisp built to the highest quality and in doing so have instigated many innovative ideas and developments.

THE ROYAL HUISMAN SHIPYARD in Vollenhove, Holland is well known for the creation of yachts that have become classics but with the 48-metre sloop Wisp, the team has completed not only a classic but also its first build of a yacht drawn by the Hoek Design team.

Surprisingly, Dutchman Andre Hoek has never drawn a yacht that has been built by Huisman and yet, within a few months of each other, there are two – the 46m Elfje being the other. Another first is that Wisp offered Hoek and the UK-based interior design team Rhoades Young the opportunity to work together for the first time.  Unlike Hoek, Jonathan Rhoades/ Dick Young are old hands at Huisman, having designed the interior of 10 yachts constructed at the yard, two of which are still being completed.
