Setting for The Blue Lagoon movie, Fiji is an idyllic cruising paradise with a nice balance of superyacht infrastructure, remote islands and colourful local traditions.
In 1999, a beautiful superyacht called Aile Blanch (‘white wing’ in French) sailed into Fijian waters and moored at Vuda Marina on the northwest coast of Viti Levu, the biggest and most populous of the country’s 300-plus islands.
The 100-footer launched in 1939 was one of the larger yachts to come to Fiji and was skippered by an Englishman, David Jamieson, an experienced superyacht Captain who had first visited the archipelago in 1992.
