In April, DutchCraft showcased a new version of its flagship 56, designed for scuba-dive enthusiasts and even resorts wanting a specialty craft. The 56 was first introduced at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2019, and was originally intended as a multi-purpose vessel.

The 17-metre DutchCraft 56 can hold 16 dive sets, all stowed in the aft side oversized lockers (2.7m x 1.5m, and 2m x 1.1m). After diving the empty tanks can be refilled with the optional built-in Bauer junior scuba compressor and all equipment cleaned in the washing basin.

An optional davit crane can be concealed into the aft section of the vessel. “It is very convenient if you do not feel like lifting the heavy gear from the water,” says Sietse Koopmans, founder and chairman of DutchCraft of the 56. “The aft deck is low and we installed a professional ladder, so it’s easy to access the water. After diving, you can wash the equipment in the dedicated basin.”

The aft platform of the DC56, one of the yacht’s key features, is dedicated for toys and storage. There is enough space for a watercraft, even a submersible. It is one of the largest aft sections in the class.

DutchCraft has developed an open and cabin version of the 56, allowing for warmer climates or cooler ones. “The covered spacious air-conditioned main deck saloon with panoramic tinted windows provides shelter in case weather gets really bad. The DC56 is the perfect boat for the real explorers who want to discover the world from every possible angle,” says Koopmans.

The DutchCraft 56 enjoys spectacular performance parameters, topping out at 40 knots, while the top range is 840 nautical miles, allowing long periods of exploration away from the marina. The 56’s engine combination are either twin Volvo Penta IPS 600 or 950s, and a commercial version is available with John Deere Engines and Doen jets that allows for 30.000-hour service intervals.

On the lower deck of the DC56, there is accommodation for up to eight guests in four cabins. The yacht is equipped with a dishwasher, a freezer, a wine cooler, an icemaker, and two fridges. The high ceiling height on the lower deck gives a sense of space and comfort.

The 56 also comes with the Volvo Dynamic Positioning System, which allows the boat to maintain position even in strong currents or windy conditions. There is no need to use an anchor, which is usually prohibited in sensitive and protected marine areas such as over coral reefs.

DutchCraft produces an all-electric 25 tender with bow ramp for easy access to shore. A family-run business, DutchCraft is the sister company to Zeelander Yachts, builder of luxury sports cruisers. The shipyards for both companies are located in Groot-Ammers, Holland.
