The first Dufour 390 has been sold into Hong Kong, to a local owner. The sale was a collaboration between Omnia Marine’s partner in Hong Kong, Vivian Chan from VP Yachts Limited, and Adam Blackmore from Asia Marine.

The high-performance sailboat is on schedule to arrive at the end of March. The experienced owner is expected to mainly use her for cruising with family around Hong Kong, but will also attend some regattas.

“The recent great performances of Dufour boats in local regattas in China, Taiwan and Japan has shed some great light on Dufour,” said Chan in a media statement.

“It is a great milestone for Dufour and its partner on the ground VP Yachts Limited, with this first new boat sold only a few weeks after being appointed by Dufour and Omnia Marine.”

Dufour, which has seen several new orders taken in Asia in recent months – including the first Dufour 530 performance sold in the region – currently has its biggest Asian market in Japan. But the brand has been gaining recognition among Southeast Asian sailors and crews in recent years.

Kevin Corfa, Dufour’s Asia representative said: “We are representing an interesting alternative in Hong Kong for sailing fans and bringing back the Dufour name where it should be, among the leaders in the industry here, as it is in Europe, its major and historical market. Dufour has a name for itself; what we need is visibility and boats to show on local regattas and events.”

In October 2020, Dufour announced an Asia dealership expansion, appointing Yacht Sourcing as its exclusive dealer in Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore.
