Leading superyacht charter and brokerage firm partners with India's Marine Solutions

Burgess has announced a new partnership with Marine Solutions in India, expanding its services to existing clients and enhancing charter offerings in the Indian Ocean, covering India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka. Burgess has identified the region as holding “substantial long-term potential for the business.”

Gautama and Anju Dutta, Burgess’ new India representatives

Marine Solutions is India’s leading yacht company with brokerage, charter, yacht management and marina services, and has exclusive dealerships for Ferretti Yachts, Pershing, Riva, Prestige, Jeanneau, Sea Ray, Fountaine Pajot, Zodiac and Seakeeper. The company is owned by husband and wife team Gautama and Anju Dutta.

Gautama Dutta is Marine Solutions’ Executive Director and a former competitive sailor. He commissioned and ran India’s Olympic Sailing Centre at Bombay. Gautama is a founding member of the India Marine Federation and is knowledgeable about boating in the region covering India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. In addition to being Chief Representative, he will also take the lead on all charter developments for Burgess in the region, according to the Burgess statement.

Anju is Managing Director of Marine Solutions and heads the sales and marketing division. In addition to being the Brokerage Representative, Anju will also spearhead marketing initiatives for Burgess in the region.

The new Crossroads Marina in the Maldives

A number of the world’s largest superyachts headed to the Maldives for the winter 2020-21 charter season, likely due to Covid-19 restrictions in other markets.

Jean-Marc Poullet, Chairman Asia said: “We are delighted to welcome two highly qualified Indian yachting professionals to the global Burgess family. They will work closely with the rest of the Asia team while also leveraging Burgess’ global expertise to deliver the best possible service to India and Indian Ocean yacht owners and charterers.”

“We look forward to bringing this world class yachting platform to the region and to connect the global yacht charter network with the fabulous cruising destinations in India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives,” said Gautama Dutta.

Sri Lanka has beautiful coastline and is home to a pod of Blue Whales, and yachting is still relatively undeveloped. The Maldives has recently made superyacht visits easier.

Burgess is the second of the world’s biggest yacht brokerage and charter companies to have a substantial presence in India, after Ocean Independence and its partnership with West Coast Marine Yacht Services, which is based in Mumbai.

The most recent reports suggest that India’s economy is likely to revive quickly in 2021, once again overtaking China as the world’s fastest growing economy.
