The Seadeck series combines fuel efficiency and a huge outdoor social area

Azimut Yachts, the world’s largest yacht builder, has launched the new Seadeck series, a hybrid motoryacht designed for families. The brand says the new series will reduce emissions by 40%, and offer the “Fun Island” design concept.

The Seadeck 6 will be presented at the 2024 Boot Düsseldorf

Seadeck 6, the first of 3 models in the Seadeck series will be presented at the Boot Düsseldorf 2024. Seadeck 7 and Seadeck 8 will follow between 2024 and 2025.

The new Seadeck series was developed by Azimut and Alberto Mancini, as well as Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez on interior design. The Seadeck series brings together two key elements: reduced emissions and an expansive external aft deck.

The Seadeck 6 aft deck establishes the “Fun Island” concept

Seadeck is the first 60-foot plus series that integrates Volvo hybrid propulsion systems, which reduce energy consumption and cut emissions. Over 40% of the Seadeck construction will be in lightweight carbon fibre on a planing hull that Azimut says is the most efficient ever built by the brand. A large battery pack will allow electric power only at anchor. Azimut reckons the Seadeck series will deliver a 40% reduction in carbon emissions over a year of normal use, compared to a traditional yacht of similar dimensions.

The aft deck lounge design borrows from the Benetti Oasis Deck, a trademarked design incorporated into several Benetti superyacht designs. The Oasis Deck includes five key features: drop-down side wings; a pool integrated into a flush deck surrounded by the aft social area; an unobstructed 270-degree view from the stern; a mix of sun and shade at all times of the day; and a merging of the main saloon interior to the aft deck area.

On the Seadeck series, the Oasis Deck concept is referred to as “Fun Island”. The aim was to merge interior and exterior aft deck as much as possible.

“We wanted to create a boat that puts maximum emphasis on the concept of openness and transparency, and that also represented a radical change in terms of the relationship with nature,” said Alberto Mancini. “With the introduction of the Fun Island, Seadeck is actually a floating island where owners can get away from their daily routine and live in total contact with the sea.”

Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez used the “conscious” philosophy that has been the hallmark of their many luxury and corporate projects in Europe. “We prefer to talk about consciousness rather than sustainability, a philosophy that determines our way of practising architecture,” said the duo. “We try to work by subtraction, because reduction means durability, both technical and aesthetic. And a boat must stand the test of time and be beautiful forever.”

Much of the interior will be fitted with natural or recycled materials. Cork will be used in the decking, replacing traditional teak.

“Seadeck is a new starting point for future generations,” said Giovanna Vitelli, Chair of Azimut|Benetti Group. “We wish, once again, to chart a course that will be an inspiration for the entire industry, so that the theme of respect for the environment is interpreted – as it is for Seadeck – with a concrete approach made up of investment, technological research, and the courage to introduce a new lifestyle that embraces the sea.”
