It's Southeast Asia’s time to shine. All eyes are on the region as Singapore and Indonesia flex their yachting potential.

If I were to say that 2024 was Southeast Asia’s year for the yachting industry, I think few would disagree. Established markets like Singapore and emerging locales like Indonesia are claiming plenty of attention from major shipyards and boaters alike, something bolstered by the success of this year’s Singapore Yachting Festival, which, in its second year, saw major interest from the industry and the public alike.

In this issue of Asia-Pacific Boating, we not only recap the event, but talk to some of the movers and shakers of the Southeast Asia yachting region on where the scene is headed, including Boat Lagoon Yachting’s Vrit Yongsakul, Absolute Yachts’ Thomas Woo, Azimut’s Enrico Chiaussa, and Ivano Poma and Carlo Raineri, the visionaries behind Tenggara Marine, the Ferretti Group’s new dealer in Indonesia.

Of course, Southeast Asia has its competitors, including the Middle East, where the recent Dubai International Boat Show showcased the region’s rapidly emerging potential as both a yachting destination and as a manufacturing base. Gulf Craft Inc’s Lee Oldroyd gives us insight into what the GCC offers both the industry and boat owners.

Talking of emerging cruising grounds, we also explore remote Palau, yachting’s last frontier; meet the marine biologist attempting to turn the tides of ecological destruction on the Great Barrier Reef; discover the vintage charter yacht of Hollywood director Roland Emmerich, and delve into the controversial discussion on ethical caviar.

In this issue we also showcase some of the most exciting new arrivals on the yachting scene, from the new Riva El-Iseo and the innovative Salorenzo 50Steel to the thrilling Sea Wolf X by Rossinavi and slip aboard the stunning Navetta 75 by Absolute Yachts, the cutting-edge Bluegame BGM75, and the impressive Galeon 560 FLY for a closer look.Nick Walton signature
