Powered by 4x Mercury 450hp motors, top speed 55kn+

Following the world debut of the new 48 Wallytender in France last autumn, Wally with Ferretti Group revealed at the Miami Yacht Show (Feb 13-17) the first unit of a new, fully powered outboard version of the cutting-edge Wally day cruiser – the 48 Wallytender X.

“As a hotspot for the outboard yachting lifestyle, Florida is the perfect place to unveil this exciting new model. With four 450hp outboard racing engines primed to unleash astounding speeds, the 48 Wallytender X will undoubtedly turn heads and be the perfect match for anyone who loves high-performance boats,” says Stefano de Vivo, Managing Director of Wally.

After reviewing a number of propulsion options for its outboard model, Wally selected Mercury’s 450hp Verado R powerful engines. Manufactured in the US, Mercury claims they are the lightest and most fuel-efficient outboards on the market, with the best power-to-weight ratio.

The hull design and light carbon-fibre construction were done in-house at Wally and Ferretti Group. Preliminary sea trials indicate maximum speeds in excess of 55 knots and a cruising speed of 40 knots, with a range of 320nm.

The 48 Wallytender X has a spacious suite on the lower deck – featuring carbon-fibre decking with furniture and panels in teak.

Alongside the performance advantages of outboard engines, the 48 Wallytender X provides a quiet ride thanks to reduced noise and vibration, as well as being light and easy to maintain. With the engines repositioned outside the hull, a vast space is freed up for storage, and – as with the inboard model – the 48 Wallytender X features joystick controls for easy docking. And with tilting outboards, the effective draft of the 48 Wallytender X can be reduced to 70cm (2ft 4in) at full load when the engines are lifted.

As a first in its category, Wally has split the four engines to the flanks of the boat, with two on each side, allowing the installation of the retractable hydraulic boarding passerelle/swim ladder to provide direct and easy access to the water or the shore.

The deck layout of the 48 Wallytender X is as comfortable as the inboard version with generous seating, sunbeds and al-fresco dining catered to by the well-equipped galley unit. And with Wally’s sideways-opening bulwarks, the open beach effect on the aft of the boat is also included in this model.

“We are very proud of what we have achieved in this new outboard version of the 48 Wallytender,” comments Wally Founder Luca Bassani. “We have been able to maintain its strong aesthetic identity and the many practical features found on the inboard model, perfectly packaged to serve the needs of clients who prefer the outboard experience in their boating lifestyle, including top speeds and high levels of performance.”
